

The Alliance Française San Diego is an Official Exam Center and offers tests/diplomas based on the same levels as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to assess and to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French. These diplomas are valid for life and provide the candidate with a quality French-level certification, useful to carry out specific personal, academic or professional projects.​​​​

DELF Prim (Age 8-11)
What is the DELF Prim?
The DELF Prim is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the proficiency in French as a Foreign Language for children ages 8 to 11. Conceptualized with content specific to children and their knowledge of French, young learners can earn certificates for all three levels: DELF Prim A1.1, DELF Prim A1 and DELF Prim A2, corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The exam topics are created to correspond to the age group’s interests: immediate environment (family, personal details, interests, friends), everyday situations, etc. The following linguistic skills will be assessed:

To pass the DELF exam, the candidate needs to score a minimum of 50 out of 100 points. Additionally, the candidate must achieve a minimum of 5 points in each of the four individual sections (listening, reading, writing, and speaking), regardless of the overall score. A score below 5 in any section will result in failing the exam, even if your total score is 50 or higher. ​

DELF junior (Age 12+)
DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) Junior is an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language.
This diploma is recognised throughout the world and is valid for life.
Depending on the level achieved, the DELF can facilitate acceptance to university in France, Europe or a French-speaking countries and to some grandes écoles universities.
These diplomas are valid for life. DELF is composed of four independent diplomas that correspond to the levels of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).Please note: the number of candidates are limited.

DELF / DALF TP Adult
The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French.
The DELF and the DALF certificates are made up of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECR): DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2, DALF C1 and DALF C2.

This diploma is recognised worldwide and is valid for life.
Depending on the level, the DELF can enhance a curriculum vitae (CV) and make it easier to get a job in a company where the language spoken is French.
The DELF B2 is necessary to obtain French nationality (new regulation). The DELF B2, and increasingly the DALF C1, are necessary to get into French, European or Francophone universities, and into some "grandes écoles".

02 - Dates
All exams start at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
Please be on site by 8:40 a.m. If you arrive late, you will not be eligible to take the exam, as it must begin at the same time for all candidates.

NOTE: the December DELF TP B2 and C1 sessions are closed since we are at capacity.
We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible if you intend to take a test.
The 2026 calendar will be available soon.
FAQ:
- Deadlines are set globally for all certifications. We cannot register a student after the due date since the system will not allow it. We cannot make exceptions.
- Registered persons will receive an exam notification once all registrations are closed. There is no need to contact us before that date since we need to wait for the final list to send out notifications.​
- Plan ahead: if you are late for the exam, we won't be able to accomodate you or reimburse the exam fees.
- Exams are in person only and the written part is on paper.
- DELF/DALF Candidates results can be up to a one-month wait. The diplomas arrive three months later.
- Once you register for an exam, we cannot change the date or the level.

IMPORTANT:
- For candidates who are minors (DELF Prim and Junior), please ensure that a parent or guardian's contact information is included on the registration form.
- Registration will only be considered complete once both the registration form and payment have been submitted before the deadline. Incomplete registrations will not be processed, and you will not be registered for the exam.
