Alliance Francaise San Diego

The Alliance Française was created in 1883, by renowned personalities like Louis Pasteur, Ernest Renan, and Jules Verne, to name a few. In 2023, the Alliance celebrates its 140th anniversary and is the first cultural NGO in the world.

The Alliance Française San Diego was established in 1927 and has served hundreds of students yearly. We are part of a network of more than 100 chapters in the United States coordinated by the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, and of more than 834 affiliates in 133 countries, located on every continent, and coordinated by the Fondation des Alliances Françaises

our mission

The Alliance Française of San Diego (AFSD), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, promotes the French Language and francophone cultures to the residents of San Diego County.

We offer French classes, in group or private, on-site and online. We are also a site where you can take exams that will be useful to validate your level in French.

We are a cultural center. France, its overseas departments, and all French-speaking countries have a lot to offer to you in terms of diversity and culture. Do you want to be immersed in francophone cultures? Look no further: right here in San Diego, the francophone community is significant and willing to share its treasures.

We have a great library with books you can borrow with a membership

We are a passionate team, motivated by the goal to offer accessible French classes to all and to organize events for the San Diego community.
