General Policies

Payment for classes, certifications, memberships, events, and other activities must be made in full before the activity begins.

We accept payment by cash, check, PayPal, Zelle, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express).

For payments made by cash or check, registration is considered pending until payment has been received. Orders will remain pending until payment is completed.

Cash and check payments may be made:

• In person: at our UTC location during office hours.
  
• For events: at our UTC location during office hours or at the door of the event. Please note that some events have limited capacity.
  

For checks only: By mail.

We are not responsible for payments sent by mail that are lost, delayed, or not received.

For classes, events, and certifications, a spot will be held for a maximum of two business days (or two open office days) pending receipt of payment. After that time, the reservation may be canceled and the spot released to another participant.

A receipt confirming payment will be provided once the transaction has been processed.

Product-specific cancellation and refund policies are outlined below. 

If you believe you made a purchase by mistake, please contact us within 24 hours. While we cannot guarantee a refund, each request will be reviewed individually and, when appropriate, a voucher may be offered as an alternative.

When a cancellation qualifies for a voucher rather than a refund, the Alliance Française de San Diego will issue a credit toward any future purchase. The credit will be available on the Alliance Francaise San Diego’s platform, on the customer’s personal account. 

• The validity is 12 months from the date of issue. 
  
• They cannot be redeemed for cash.
  
• They may be applied toward eligible future purchases for the credit holder or another person registered under the same account.

Approved refunds will be processed as soon as possible and no later than two months after the refund request is approved.

A $25 fee will be charged for:

• returned checks; or
  
• payments that are not received by the due date despite our reminders.
  

The cancellation and refund policies specific to each product or service below take precedence over any general purchase policy.

• Memberships are valid for one year (12 months) from the date of registration.
  
• Family memberships include all members of the same household.
  
• Memberships automatically renew. You will receive a reminder 30 days before renewal and may cancel at any time by contacting us.
  
• Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. All membership sales are final once the purchase is confirmed.
  
• Members of other Alliance Française organizations are welcome to visit San Diego and participate in our activities. However, if you reside in San Diego, you must have an active AF San Diego membership to attend our classes and receive member benefits.
  
• In the event of relocation to San Diego, we may offer a one-time complimentary transfer of an existing membership from another Alliance Française organization.
  

Membership contributions support AFSD's artistic, cultural, and educational programs and provide access to a variety of member benefits.

These rules apply to all classes, workshops, camps, and events organized by the Alliance Française de San Diego.

Punctuality

Students and participants should arrive on time. Repeated tardiness may disrupt the group.

Late arrivals are not eligible for compensation, refunds, or credits. For certain events, including film screenings, late arrivals may not be admitted.

Respectful Behavior

Students and participants are expected to behave respectfully toward teachers, staff, classmates, and other participants at all times.

Disruptive behavior, including repeatedly interrupting lessons, distracting others, or preventing the group from learning, will not be tolerated.

Our classrooms and events are intended to be safe and welcoming spaces. Personal attacks, offensive remarks, and inappropriate discussions of sensitive topics are not permitted.

Eating and drinking are permitted as long as they do not disrupt the class or activity.

Classroom Access

Adult and youth group classes are reserved for enrolled students only.

For safety and consistency, no adult other than the instructor is permitted in a youth classroom.

If a student requires assistance from a caregiver due to special needs, please contact AFSD in advance so that appropriate arrangements, including any required background checks, can be made.

Health and Hygiene

Students and participants are expected to maintain appropriate health and hygiene standards, including wearing clean clothing and practicing good personal hygiene, so that everyone can learn and participate comfortably.

Anyone with a contagious illness should remain at home while they are contagious, for their own well-being and out of consideration for others.

Personal Belongings

Students and participants are responsible for their personal belongings. AFSD is not liable for lost or stolen items.

A lost-and-found service is available. Please contact us if you believe you have left an item behind.

Enforcement

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in dismissal from an activity.

AFSD reserves the right to refuse enrollment or access to an event or activity to any person who does not respect these standards.

Pets: 

To help keep our shared space clean, comfortable, and safe for everyone, especially children and guests with allergies, only service animals as defined by the ADA are permitted in our office or during indoor events.

We understand that emotional support animals are important to their owners. However, under the ADA, they are not considered service animals and therefore cannot be accommodated in our building. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a welcoming environment for all.
