Francophone Night


In March, a festive celebration of the diversity of the French-speaking world, featuring cultural presentations, music, food, and traditions from Francophone countries across the globe.

Francophone Night 2026: Soirée en Egpyte

On March 26, we celebrated the richness and diversity of Egypt against the stunning backdrop of San Diego Bay.

We were honored to welcome distinguished guests Adrien Frier, Consul General of France in Los Angeles, Samy Shoker, Egyptian chess Grandmaster and Egyptian artist Yasmina El-Abd. Guests enjoyed live music, and an authentic Egyptian dinner. 

The event highlighted the cultural ties that unite the Francophone world while showcasing Egypt's rich heritage, traditions, and contributions to Francophone culture.

The event was supported by Villa Albertine, the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, and Hatem Elshimy, Financial Planner with Principal®. We thank our co-chair Racha Helwa for her passion in sharing about Egypt.



Francophone Night 2025: Soirée au Maroc

On March 16, guests enjoyed an immersive evening showcasing Morocco's rich traditions through food, art, literature, and cinema. The event began with a lively market, including traditional henna art, books by Moroccan-American author Kitty Morse, handcrafted products by Facials by Hoda, and Moroccan specialties.

This was followed by an authentic Moroccan buffet prepared by A la Moroccan Table and concluded with a screening of the film Tazzeka.

This event was made possible thanks to the support of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and our valued partners: San Diego French-American School, Ingrid Pasco, the San Diego French Film Club, and Diouri Art.


Francophone Night 2024: Quebec cinema

On March 8, 2024, the Alliance Française de San Diego partnered with the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles represented by David Ruiz to present a special evening dedicated to the richness of Quebec cinema, held at the San Diego French-American School auditorium.

The program began with a reception around hors d'oeuvres followed by opening remarks from David Ruiz.

The screenings featured the short film La Main Gauche (The Left Hand), followed by the feature film L'Audience, offering audiences an engaging look at contemporary Quebec storytelling and filmmaking.



Francophone Night 2023: Quebec cinema (first edition)

On March 10, 2023, the evening was dedicated to Quebec cinema, with the support of the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles and our monthly French Film Club,

The evening began with a social gathering where guests enjoyed refreshments sponsored by Ingrid Pasco and connected with fellow Francophiles before the screenings.

Attendees were then treated to two exclusive films: the short film Ousmane followed by a special U.S. screening of Norbourg (The Blind Steal), offering audiences a unique opportunity to discover a film rarely shown in the United States.

We thank the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles, Ingrid Pasco, and the Lycée Français de San Diego for helping make this evening possible.



Francophone Night 2022: Côte d'Ivoire

The Alliance Française de San Diego hosted a networking dinner celebrating Côte d'Ivoire. The evening brought together members of the local Francophone community and representatives of the Ivorian community for an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the diversity of the French-speaking world over a shared meal.
