About the Event
For its 2026 edition, the Night of Ideas explores the theme “Paving the Way.” Join us for a screening of the award-winning film Defenders of Life (2015), directed by Dana Ziyasheva—a powerful work that helped spur the passage of legislation banning child marriage in Costa Rica. The screening will be followed by a discussion examining the intersections of tradition, development, and the vital role of art in advancing social change. The conversation will feature Dana Ziyasheva, director and writer, alongside Janine Young, MD (UC San Diego), a specialist in migrant population health. The evening will conclude with a book signing by Dana Ziyasheva.
This event is free and open to all with required RSVP.
