About the Event
The Alliance Française San Diego is delighted to partner with the Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego and the French American Chamber of Commerce for an evening of art and ideas.
The event hosted by the ICA at their Central location in Balboa Park presents an evening in celebration of Pinar Yoldas: Synaptic Sculpture (on view February 24 – June 23) with food and drinks for purchase, a family-friendly art activity, and musical entertainment!
Free event, open to all. RSVP is required.
Program
4pm - 8 pm I View Gallery Pinar Yoldas: Synaptic Sculpture.
4pm – 6pm I Family-Friendly Art Activity in The Hub
Create a “Not Quite Right” collage inspired by Pinar Yoldas’ exhibition, Synaptic Sculpture. The assemblages explore the uncanny realm of AI-generated imagery, where the algorithmic mind occasionally falters, birthing compositions that subtly deviate from reality and expose their synthetic genesis.
5pm – 6pm I Panel discussion: The Edge: AI + Human Creativity
Join us in the theater at Mingei International Museum for a lively panel discussion, The Edge: AI + Human Creativity.
ICA San Diego Curator Jordan Karney Chaim moderates a conversation featuring artist Pinar Yoldas, Sylvia Cartwright, MD, and Suman Kanuganti, Co-Founder and CEO of Personal.ai.
Discussion includes 15 minutes of Q&A.
The panel will be conducted in English.
6pm – 8pm I Music by DJ TeeLynn.
4pm – 8pm I Food, Drinks, Socializing
Beverages by Curious Elixirs, Topo Chico, and Sacred Hill Wine.
In an effort to reduce barriers to contemporary art, these events and exhibitions held by the ICA are complimentary to the public.

What is the Night of Idees / La Nuit des Idees?
Initiated in 2016 during an exceptional evening that brought together in Paris foremost French and international thinkers invited to discuss the major issues of our time, the Night of Ideas has quickly become a fixture of the French and international agenda.
Every year, on the last Thursday of January, the French Institute invites all cultural and educational institutions in France and on all five continents to celebrate the free flow of ideas and knowledge by offering, on the same evening, conferences, meetings, forums and round tables, as well as screenings, artistic performances and workshops, around a theme each one of them revisits in its own fashion.
