80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy in 2024

Let's celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day at the Alliance Française de San Diego with a special speaker, Mr. Max Gurney, a decorated World War II veteran and the Honorary Consul of Monaco in San Diego.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION (In French and English if necessary)

During World War II, Mr. Gurney played a significant role in General Patton's 7th Army Intelligence Service. He was responsible for interpreting and translating radio communications during Operation Torch (1942-1943), which aimed to liberate French territories and protectorates in North Africa. After the war, he continued his connection with France through his work at Pan Am Airlines, managing operations in Nice, Marseille, and Menton between 1957 and 1991. In 1966, Mr. Gurney was awarded the Médaille du Mérite by Senator Francis Palmero for his contributions.
