Artwork Hanging Instructions
To ensure your artwork is ready for installation, please prepare it according to the following guidelines. Our exhibition uses a picture
rail system as below with adjustable hooks and hanging cords, so all artwork must be equipped with suitable hanging hardware before
delivery.
All paper artworks (e.g., watercolors, prints, drawings, photographs) must be framed
— unframed paper cannot be hung on the picture rail system.
1. Framed Artwork
- Please ensure your frame has a sturdy, properly installed hanging hook or D-ring on the back that can securely attach to a hanging wire or cord.
- For heavier frames, please use appropriately rated hardware to ensure the artwork is secure.
- Adhesive, glued-on, or stick-on hooks are not accepted. They often fail to hold the weight of the artwork, causing it to fall and potentially become damaged.
2. Unframed Artwork (e.g., Stretched Canvas, or art on wood)
If your artwork is not framed, it must be prepared for hanging as follows:
- Install two securely screwed-in D-rings or suitable hanging hooks on the back of the canvas frame, one on each side.
- Attach a strong hanging wire or picture-hanging cord between the two hooks.
- Ensure the wire or cord is securely fastened and positioned so the artwork hangs straight.
- The wire or cord must be strong enough to support the full weight of the artwork.
Example: two securely screwed-in D-rings on the back of the frame, with a hanging wire strung between them.
Need help wiring your artwork? Watch this short step-by-step tutorial: How to Wire the Back of a Painting Using D-Rings (YouTube). This is just one example — many other helpful videos on wiring artwork with D-rings and hanging hardware are available on YouTube.
Please do not use adhesive or stick-on hanging hardware. Only mechanically secured hardware, properly attached to the frame, will be accepted.
Important
Please check that all hanging hardware is firmly attached and ready for installation before bringing your artwork to the exhibition. Artists are responsible for providing the necessary hardware; the exhibition team will provide the picture rail hooks and hanging cords.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth installation and a safe, professional presentation of everyone's work!
