Hike in French

Join us for a hike on Mount Woodson by Lake Poway

Lake Poway Recreation Area, 14644 Lake Poway Rd, Poway, CA 92064

Time: 8:15am to around 11:30. Meet at 8:00 to start at 8:15 sharp.

Meeting point/Parking: Take HWY15 North (South if you come from Escondido/San Marcos), exit on Rancho Bernardo Rd (Exit 24), Turn right and continue East. Rancho Bernado Rd will become Espola road. Continue on Espola road for about 2-3 miles. Turn left on to Lake Poway road and proceed to the park parking lot. We will meet in front of the concession store.

Non-Poway residents must pay a $10 parking fee on weekends and holidays to park at Lake Poway Recreation Area. Ample parking is available in the park, there are restrooms and picnic areas at the park surrounding the trailhead.

Hike info: Distance: 6 miles round trip, we will climb 3 miles and turn back. NOTE: this hike is normally 7.5 miles round trip from our meeting point to Potato Chip Rock and back so feel free to do it in case you want to go farther.

Elevation from base:  2000 feet elevation. *Difficulty: this hike is considered a moderately challenging route due to the steep incline, no flat spots and zero shade. Strenuous workout.

What to bring: A snack and plenty of electrolytes, we will take a 15 minute break for more opportunities to socialize. Adults: 2 cups (about 1/2 liter) of water for every hour of hiking. Children: 1-2 cups of water for every hour of hiking.

A minimum of 10 participants is required to make this happen.  max 25 participants.

In case of bad weather, or not enough particpants, the event will be canceled and the announcement will be made 48 hours before.
